Abstract

1,144,418. Ignition systems; controlling fuel injection. ROBERT BOSCH G, m, b. H. Nov. 23, 1967 [Nov.24, 1966], No. 53286/67. Heading F1B. A control device for triggering an operating process in an internal-combustion engine comprises a source of light 21, a light-sensitive electrical switching component 18 for producing a signal to trigger the operating process, an optical conductor 22 for directing a beam from the source of light on to the light-sensitive electrical switching component and a member 24 adapted to be moved by the engine for influencing the light beam. In addition to triggering the ignition operation the control device may be used for controlling petrol injection. A vacuum-operated ignition timing device 29 may be associated with the plate 28. A centrifugal timing device 30 is arranged between the member 24 and the distributer shaft 10. A capacitor may be discharged via the primary winding of an ignition transformer at the instant of ignition by the light-sensitive switching component. Modified arrangements of the optical conductor are described.
