Abstract

1524580 Cleaning IC engine cooling fins KLOCKNER-HUMBOLDT-DEUTZ AG 23 Nov 1976 [6 Dec 1975] 48827/76 Heading F1B [Also in Division F4] Flared nozzles 7 direct jets of compressed air through the gaps 3 between the cooling fins 4 of the cylinders 1 and the cylinder heads 2, in a direction opposite to the normal flow of cooling air, to dislodge dirt. The flow of compressed air from a reservoir 12 is controlled by a solenoid valve 11 which is opened for a period in response to operation of the ignition lock 14, operation of the oil pressure warning light, the engine temperature or the generator voltage. The reservoir 12 is supplied by a compressor 13 supplying a vehicle braking or transmission system.
