Abstract

Compartments. - For the purpose of counteracting list to a damaged liquid-carrying vessel, in addition to the ordinary longitudinal bulkhead, a tween-deck is fitted below the load-line. The opposite top and bottom compartments are connected by an opening B near the intersection of the longitudinal bulkhead D and the tween deck E. Modifications are described in which the openings B are carried as near as possible to the ship's side in the lower compartment.
