Compartments.-The hull A is provided with several decks and a central longitudinal bulkhead A extending fore and aft from the well B containing the propelling-machinery. Between the longitudinal bulkhead G and the ship's sides, bulkheads J are fitted which incline aft, as shown, offering increased resistance to torpedo attack. The forward compartment thus formed is filled with cork or other resilient material. The upper part of the bulkheads may be curved forward.
