Abstract

1520897 Roof and wall coverings BENGT PETERSSON NEW PRODUCTS INVESTMENT AB 8 Sept 1975 [9 Sept 1974] 36867/75 Headings E1B and E1W A roof or wall covering is provided by overlapping plates, e.g. of metal, secured to a base structure 3 by fastenings fixed to the structure 3 adjacent the overlap zone, the fastenings 7 each having a supporting part against which bears the plate which is outermost at the overlap and also a projection or tongue 9 which extends through an opening 6 in an inwardly directed flange 4 on that plate. The fixing leg 10 of the fastening may have spike formations and also have a struck up tongue 11 having a hole through which a nail 22 is driven into the base structure 3 or may be of the form shown in Fig. 8 provided with a hole 21 in a fixing limb 20 for bolting to the element 3. Instead of a simple tongue 9 the fixing may have a forked tongue (Fig. 5) the limbs 15 of which are downturned at 16 so as to latch over the lower edge of the opening 6. Preferably as shown the edge of the plate opposite the flange 4 has an upturned flange 5 engaging under the part of the fixing supporting the overlying plate. The panels which overlie one another in the manner of fish scales may extend across a whole wall from corner to corner or from edge to edge of a roof. An alternative form of panel may have adjacent apertured flanges 4 and adjacent upstanding flanges 5 as in Fig. 9.
