Abstract

1503433 Fire resistant ceiling BUTLER MFG CO 22 April 1976 16368/76 Heading E1W A fire resistant space grid ceiling 10 (Fig. 1) is composed of trusses 11 having roof supporting top chords 12 and ceiling supporting bottom chords 13, 13'. A fire resistant grid protecting panel 16 having a width the same as the width of the exposed portion of the bottom chords is secured to the underside of the flanges 14 by means of elongate channel section members 17, and fire resistant ceiling panels 15 are supported at their opposite edges on top of the portions 19 of the channel section member 17. (Fig 3). The intersection of the longitudinal (13) and transverse (13') bottom chords is covered by a rectangular intersection cover 23 (Fig. 5) which is secured by tabs 24 located at the opposite corners thereof which are bent over the adjacent corner portions of the grid protecting panels 16 and channel section members 17. At the perimeter of the ceiling adjacent a wall W (Fig. 8) a perimeter channel 29 is provided the horizontal and vertical flanges 33 and 34 of which are positioned over the flange 14 of bottom chord 13 for receiving a ceiling panel 15. The downwardly extending wall 30 of the perimeter channel is received between wall header angle 35 and trim clip 36.
