Abstract

991,947. Acoustic panels. SOUNDLOCK CORPORATION. March 7, 1963 [June 11, 1962], No. 9173/63. Heading E1V. An acoustic panel, for a ceiling, has an upturned flange 34 at one edge and a downwardly opening channel 40 at the opposite edge to form a connection between adjacent identical panels. The panels are formed of pan 12, having perforations 20, and a reflecting pan 14 joined together by return flanges 36 and 66 of the perforated pan engaging flanges 54 and 56 of the reflecting pan on the two edges and by horizontally projecting folded flanges 74 on the two other edges. The interior of the panel is filled with a honeycomb layer 16 having sound deadening material within the cells. The outer flange 68 of the channel 40 has a flanged foot 72 of such a height that when engaged by the horizontal portion of the flange 34 the panels are located with coplanar lower faces. The panels are supported from the flanges 74 by longitudinal sheet metal T-sections 80 and by interlocking of the flanges 34 and channels 40.
