Abstract

1361975 Structural members; studs PLAN PARTITIONS Ltd 21 Oct 1971 [22 Oct 1970] 50237/70 Headings E1K and E1W [Also in Division F2] A channel member 10, which is adapted for joining to a second, similar, channel member 10 to form a hollow structural member for supporting the edges of panels such as 23 in the construction of partitioning, comprises a base 12 with a recess 14 to receive the edge of a panel, a long straight flange 16, and a short cranked flange 18 providing a portion 20 which, when two channel members 10 are placed together as shown, overlaps the long flange of the other member 10, whereby the overlapping flanges may be secured by rivets X. The arrangement is such that a plane 22 perpendicular to the plane of the partitioning intersects only the long flanges 16, so that a panel such as 23 may be removed or/and replaced, without disturbing adjacent panels, by drilling away the rivets X and moving panel 23 and its associated channel member 10 in the direction of arrow A.
