Abstract

1509275 Boxes RYE PACKAGING Ltd 9 April 1975 14645/75 Heading B8P A knock-down box, e.g. for agricultural produce is formed from a blank having three longitudinal score lines 11-13, four transverse corner-forming score lines 16-19, slots 20-23 aligned with the score lines 16- 19 and extending from one edge of "the blank at least as far as a central longitudinal score line 12, an additional score line 28 extending across an end-forming panel 32 and a stitch flap 35 bordering the blank at a further score line 29. To form the box, the flap 35 and a panel 33 are joined preferably by stapling, as are portions of bottom-wall forming panels 36, 37 adjacent the score line 13. Delta scores 24-27 enable an upper edge of the box to be formed with downwardly folded and stitched portions 43, 44 and horizontal portions 45, 46 to assist stacking. End wall flaps 38, 39, 40 lie on top of the panels 36, 37. To collapse the box, the flaps 38, 40 are raised into contact with the end walls 32, 33 and are pushed inwardly with the end walls, Fig. 3, the bottom wall panels 36, 37 being pushed outwardly to achieve a flattened form, Fig. 4 (not shown). Extension of the slots 20-23 beyond the score line 12 provides drainage holes at the corners of the box.
