Abstract

1398176 Cartons A AHLSTROM OSAKEYHTIO 30 Nov 1972 [30 Nov 1971] 55289/72 Heading B8P In a carton blank comprising side wall panels 1-4, bottom closure flaps 6-9 and top closure flaps 12-15, two top closure flaps 12, 14 are each divided into three parts 12a, 12b, 14a, 14b by two cuts 18 which extend into the associated side wall panel 1, 3 for half its height to partially define side wall parts 1a, 3a. The uncut top closure flaps 13, 15 include tabs 13a, 15a which are engageable in slots 21 when the flaps 13, 15 are folded double about fold lines 20 to sandwich top closure flap outer parts 12b, 14b during setting up of the blank. Access to the contents of the closed carton is gained by downwardly and outwardly folding the top closure and side wall parts 12a, 1a and 14a, 3a about fold lines 19 which join the ends of each pair of cuts 18 in the side wall panels so that the carton contents are accessible from the side of the carton. The opened carton may be stacked.
