Abstract

1475919 Stackable cartons REED INTERNATIONAL Ltd 8 Sept 1975 [25 Nov 1974] 51012/74 Heading B8P To facilitate stacking the end walls of a carton of cardboard, or double-faced corrugated board, are formed of three thicknesses 4, 6 and 7. In forming the carton side walls 2 are raised to a vertical position, end wall panels 6 are folded to lie above a fold line 5 with panels 7 extending inwardly of the lines 5 and parallel to fold lines 3. Flanges 13 and gussets 14 provided to facilitate stacking are then folded down to the position shown in Fig. 2 and the end walls 4 are moved to an upright position and flap members 8 folded over to enclose panels 6 and slots 9 engage angled portions 10 of panels 7. Finally, panels 7 are folded to lie against the inside of panels 4 and tongues 12 engage slots 11 to lock the end wall panels in position. The panels 6 and 7 may extend over half the width of the base panel. and an additional panel may extend from each of the panels 7 to reinforce the side walls 2.
