Abstract
1506484 Tubular heat exchangers SKF INDUSTRIAL TRADING & DEVELOPMENT CO BV 13 Aug 1975 [27 Aug 1974] 33762/75 Heading F4S A heat exchanger for preheating the combustion air of an oil-fired furnace comprises an outer casing 1 containing elongated heat exchange tubes 3, 4 mounted between end plates 10, 11 through which a hot fluid passes from an inlet 5 to an outlet 6, and the medium to be heated is passed successively in counter, co- and counter current over the tubes from an inlet 9 to an outlet 12 in regions I, II, III by partitions 7, 8. The partition 7 extends coaxially of the tubes but is spaced at either end from the plates 10, 11 and substantially separates the tubes 3 from tubes 4 whilst being connected to the casing by the partition 8 formed by a transverse wall through which the tubes 4 extend. In a modification the partition and transverse wall are annular, the annular partition being water cooled and flow directing vanes may be provided on the partition or casing which vanes extend longitudinally of the exchanger.
