Abstract

1349630 Tubular heat exchangers KONINKLIJKE MASCHINEFABRIEK STORK NV 17 May 1972 [17 May 1971] 23094/72 Heading F4S In a shell and tube heat exchanger for cooling hot gases and comprising a nest of tubes 2 extending between tube plates 3 and 4 rigidly connected to the shell 1, the free ends of the tubes 2 at the hot end of the shell are secured to a thin protective plate 5 which together with the tube plate 4 defines a space 8 through which cooling medium is circulated via supply and discharge connections 9 and 10. The hot gases to be cooled enter the tubes 2 by way of inlet 11 and leave via an outlet 12, cooling medium being supplied to the shell via inlet and outlet connections 6 and 7. Supporting elements 13 may be provided between the tube plates 4 and 5.
