Abstract

1328059 Gas coolers SANNE & WENDEL AS 18 Feb 1972 [23 Feb 1971] 7684/72 Heading F4S In a heat exchanger for cooling air incorporating a plurality of cooling sections 1 removably mounted in a housing 2, the sections are connected in pairs 1, 1<SP>1</SP> at one end by return bends 6, each section comprising a plurality of finned tubes extending between tube plates 18 provided with header covers 9. The sections 1 extend between opposed openings 4 and 5 in the housing, these openings being closed in fluid tight manner by means of cover members 7 and 16 which are bolted to the housing through frame members 30. The headers include connector portions 8 which extend through openings 10 and 15 in the cover members in sealing relationship, 0-rings being provided for this purpose. Cooling medium enters and leaves the cooling sections through elbows 22 connected to supply and discharge manifolds 13 and 14 and to the portions 8. The cover member 16 is divided into sections 17 to facilitate easy replacement of individual or pairs of cooling sections which are mounted in the housing so as to have one end axially movable to allow for expansion and contraction.
