Abstract

1,056,952. Tubular heat exchangers. BORSIG A.G. May 5, 1965 [May 28, 1964], No. 18891/65. Heading F4S. An apparatus to permit heat exchange between two media having great pressure difference, one of which has a high entrance temperature, comprises a casing 1, a plurality of tubes 8 through which the hot media flows, supported at the inlet end by a thin tube plate 7, reinforced against stresses due to the pressure difference by a net-like support arranged within the region of the cooler liquid. The netlike support, comprising carrying plates 18 reinforced by ribs 20, and guide plates 21, is attached to the tube plate 7 by anchoring means 17 and rests on a carrying ring 19 which in turn is supported on an inner flange of the casing 1. The cooler fluid having an inlet 11 and an outlet 16 is uniformly distributed about the tube plate 7 by means of an annular channel 12, radial channels 13 and guide channels 14. If the cooler fluid is a liquid and is subjected to evaporation while in the state of saturation within the casing 1, then the annular channel 12 and the guide plates 21 may be dispensed with and the liquid enters the shell 1 through radial channels 13.
