1502387 Shelving BROWN & WILLIAMSON TOBACCO CORP 24 Nov 1975 [31 Dec 1974] 48240/75 Heading A4B A shelving assembly comprises spaced standards 13 supporting shelves 12 therebetween for movement between a first position in which a shelf is horizontal and a second position in which the shelf is forwardly and downwardly inclined, each shelf being supported at each end by a coupling member 65, which may be integral with the shelf, each coupling member 65 being slidably engaged on its associated standard 12 and being angularly displaceable between limit positions, in which it engages a standard 13, corresponding to said first and second positions of the shelf, and each coupling member 65 having hook formations 76, 77 pairs of which are engageable over the lower edges of slots 47 in the web 46 of the standard 13 when the coupling member 65 is in either of its limit positions whereby the shelf is supported selectively in one or other of its first or second positions. The coupling member 65 comprises a base plate 66 with a curved peripheral wall 67 interrupted by diametrically opposed openings 68 and having peripheral slots 69 adjacent the base plate 66. A pair of opposed V-shaped walls 71, 72 extend from the peripheral walls 67 adjacent the openings 68 and together define a throat between their apices 73. The coupling member 65 is slidably engaged with the standard 13, one wall 44 of an H-shaped standard 13 being engaged through the slots 69 and the web 46 of the standard being engaged through the openings 68. When the coupling member 65 has been slid to the correct height on the standard 13 it is rotated to one of its limit positions in which a pair of the hooks 76, 77 are engaged over the edges of the slots 47 with a pair of walls 71, 72 bearing on the web 46. Further walls 74 bear on the standard wall 44 in the limit positions. Extensions 86 may be fitted to one or both longitudinal edges of the main panel 58 of each shelf 12. Each standard 13 may comprise a plurality of sections 43 joined end to end by pairs of co-operating members having a wedging action. Each standard may be supported on a transverse part 14, the lower end of the standard being wedged in a socket on the foot. The foot 14 may have telescopic extensions 32 support at their ends on freely rotatable, groundengaging balls.
