Abstract

1501152 Tobacco substitutes R J REYNOLDS TOBACCO CO 15 April 1975 [15 April 1974 1 Aug 1974 (3) 21 Oct 1974 20 March 1975 (4)] 15469/75 Heading A2C Expanded cereal grains in a form simulating cut tobacco are used as components of smoking materials for cigarettes or cigars. The grains have a density not greater than 0.40 g/cc. The grains can be mixed with tobacco, examples being given of cigarettes containing 20% and 50% by volume cereal. Alternatively the cereal grains are used as tobacco substitutes and are mixed with tobacco extracts or conventional tobacco additives. The grains are shredded so that they have a tobacco appearance. The cereal may be wheat, barley, rye, oats, maize, milo or triticale.
