Die Erfindung bezweckt die Gewinnung eines Streckungsmittels für Tabak, insbesondere
für Pfeifen- und Zigarettentabak, aus Hopfendolden, das sowohl in bezug auf die Rauchbildung,
als auch auf Geschmack und Geruch beim Rauchen günstige Eigenschaften besitzt. -. Das Wesen des Verfahrens besteht darin,
daß man die von ihren Stengeln befreiten, *in bekannter Weise getrockneten Hopfendolden
röstet. Das Rösten erfolgt in der Weise, daß man das Gut in eine Röstmaschine, die durch
Dampf, Holz, Kohlen oder Koks geheizt werSen kann und zweckmässig kreisend arbeitet,
so lange röstet, bis die Ware tabakbraun gefärbt ist. Dies dauert je nach der gewünschten
Trocknung, Farbe und Menge ■zwischen ioMinuten und einer Stunde, befeiner
Rösttemperatur von etwa 8p bis 120"Celsius.
Das aus der Röstmaschine kommende Gut wird abgekühlt und dann in sprödem Zustande
durch Schneiden, Mahlen o. dgl. zerkleinert.The invention aims to obtain an extender for tobacco, in particular
