Abstract

1476968 Tufting machine: yarn feeding A J FRANKS and W A JOHNSON 19 Sept 1974 40783/74 Heading D1G In a tufting machine the yarn passes over an eccentrically mounted roller which pushes the yarn sideways and releases it, cyolically, to vary the rate of feed. The roller has an eccentric bore 29 into which fits a stub shaft 16 held in place by a set screw 26, and by a ball 31 pressed into grooves 30 in the stub shaft by a spring 33. The stub shaft is attached to a plate 40 which is supported on a bearing 36 via a dovetail locking groove. The angular position of the roller on the stub shaft is adjustable by rotating the roller until the ball 31 seats into another groove 30.
