A multi-column printing press inking device comprises a pressure chamber supplied with ink under pressure via a single pipe line, and a rotating control ,member extending across all inking stations and serving to conduct ink from the pressure chamber to the inking roller, the quantity of ink supplied to each inking station being controlled by a dosing device connected with the control member. As shown, a channel 3, containing ink fed from an ink tank by a single pipe under a pressure, e.g. of 2 atmospheres, and a rotary valve shaft 5 above the channel, extend along the beam 2; corresponding to each slot 15 in the ink rail, bores 6, 9, 13 are provided in the beam 2 and grooves 7 or L-shaped channels in the shaft 5, so arranged that during rotation of the shaft the bores 9 are momentarily connected first to the bores 6, then to the bores 13, but no direct connection is made between the bores 6, 13. The bores 9 contain spring-loaded pistons 10 whose movement under pressure of the ink from the bores 6 is limited by set screws 12 adjustable to control the individual dosage to each section of the roller 17. The shaft 5 may be coupled with the printing press directly, or through an infinitely variable gear enabling the supply rate as a whole to be adjusted.
