Abstract

147,167. Vermersch, A. Feb. 17, 1919, [Convention date]. Actuating pumps by fluid-pressure motors. - The apparatus shown is mounted on an engine cylinder by screwing the plug K into a valve cap. To put it into action the screw on the cover I is screwed into the adaptor K, thus opening the valve L so that the piston D is subject to the varying pressure in the engine cylinder. Normally the piston is raised by the spring J so that the ports e, fare closed, and on the engine's compression stroke air passes through the piston and the valves H into the chamber B, and is ultimately compressed therein by the action of the air pressure in the cylinder upon the large piston head C, and delivered through the valve G. During the engine's suction stroke, air enters through the valve F and at the end of the stroke through the ports e, f. The adaptor K may be in the form of an elbow with a screw-down valve L.
