Abstract

1470513 A two element cap U G CLOSURES & PLASTICS Ltd 20 March 1974 [20 March 1973] 13297/73 Heading B8T A cap for sealing storage jars comprises an outer member which may be made of rigid material and which consists of a circular top 1 and a depending skirt 3, the skirt having a continuous or interrupted annular ridge 5; and an inner member made of a flexible resilient plastics material, with a top 7 from which depends an inner skirt 9 having an annular bead 19 which engages a corresponding bead 21 on the jar 17 to hold the cap in sealing contact with the top of the jar. Surrounding skirt 9 and integral with it is an outer skirt 11 circumferentially disposed cutaway portions (not shown) extending through the inner and outer skirts to lend them flexibility. The inner member is held in position within the outer member by the edge of depending skirt 9 remote from the top, seating an annular ridge 5. The cutaway portions may be either radially or obliquely directed.
