Abstract

1469964 Quenching coke LINDE AG 25 March 1974 [27 March 1973] 13069/74 Heading F4B A coke cooler comprises a rotor 4 with a feeding shoot 15 and a discharge screw 10 disposed in a water bath 3 and having cooling boxes 14 projecting thereinto, the thickness of the material of the rotor and the boxes increasing from the middle to the ends of said rotor. The radial length of the boxes and their spacing increases from the entry end of the rotor whereas their width decreases. The boxes have sliding covers 17 to control the quantity of water entering them and their inner ends have wear plates 18. The rotor is octogonal and has a frusto conical entry end 5 with its own cooling boxes 7. The discharge screw 10 serves a collecting chamber 9 with a hydraulically operated emergency hatch 11 arranged to open in case of electric or other failure. A water spray 19 extends along and above the rotor and a condenser 20 traps any steam arising.
