Abstract
1345106 Rotary hearth furnaces MARATHON OIL CO 22 Feb 1972 [28 April 1971] 8167/72 Heading F4B A rotary hearth furnace which comprises a material inlet duet 3,1, rabbles 35 for moving the material towards the centre of the hearth and a material outlet 60 at the centre of the hearth, is characterized by having situated beneath the material outlet a soaking pit 61, which remains stationary when the hearth rotates and which is provided with detention means for delaying the passage of material through said soaking pit 61 for a controlled length of time. As shown, the detention means comprises a sliding gate 64, but it may comprise two sets of horizontally disposed grate element, one being capable of moving reciprocally with respect to the other.
