Abstract

1469500 Two-part couplings ITT INDUSTRIES Inc 20 May 1975 [28 May 1974] 21463/75 Heading H2E A sealing electrical connector comprises an elongate insulating member 32 having contact bores 50 extending longitudinally through it with contacts 54 therein and an integral tapered extension 66 at one end with passages 68, aligned with the bores 50, opening to its surface for receiving leads 56 of a cable 58; and a sealing cable entry boot 34 which fits over the projection 66, a rib and slot on the boot and projection respectively preventing relative rotation therebetween. Annular ribs 78, 80 may be formed on the inner surface of the boot where the cable enters and on the outer surface around the insulating member engaging end. When fixed in a housing 10 for connection to a circuit board 12 the connector may be clamped in a bore 20 by a flanged nut 24 acting through washer 27 and bush 28 against a shoulder 30 of the boot to compress the ribs 78 and form a seal against the side of the bore.
