[Also in Division H4] In u rod aerial/radio receiver system for a motor vehicle, the lower end 9 of a rod aerial I constitutes the central contact member of a connector 7 for a coaxial cable 21, extended from the input terminals of a radio receiver, and is carried in an insulating sleeve 15 contained in an outer contact member 13 having a spherical portion 19, which makes good electrical earthing contact with the edge of a hole 39 in a vehicle body part 3 when the screws 43 of a clamping device 5 are tightened, and allows the aerial to be tilted as desired. The outer contact member 13 also has a cylindrical portion 17 with a bore for receiving the cable 21, which has a hollow central conductor 23 into which the end 9 of the aerial enters. The outer conductor 25 of the cable is crimped to form a collar 27 which is held against the end of cylindrical portion 17 by a screw cap-nut 33, a sealing ring 29 preventing the ingress of moisture. The clamping device 5 comprises a pressure plate 41 with an opening 45 having a part spherical surface which bears upon the spherical part 19 of the outer contact member 13, and self-tapping clamping screws 43 engaging in holes in the vehicle body part 3. A spacing plate 49 with a part spherical face 53 and a gasket 51 are located beneath the pressure plate 41 and the whole is contained within a dished cover plate 5, an inwardly projecting flange 61 on one side of which is trapped beneath the plate 49 and an indentation 63 on the other side of which latches in a re-entrant part 65 of the plate.
