Abstract

1466940 Two-part couplings BUNKER RAMO CORP 30 April 1974 [25 June 1973] 18948/74 Heading H2E In a combined adaptor 12 and connector 10 for flush-mounting in a panel 46 the adaptor comprises a flange 30 and an axial bore including a counterbore 36 in which the connector 10 is mounted such that a mounting flange 20 of the connector butts an abutment at the inner end of the counterbore, the connector comprising a mating portion 18 within the counterbore and terminating flush with or behind the flange 30, a rear portion 16 for connector to a conductor and means 22 on its outer surface for securing the connector to the inner surface of the adaptor. A coaxial-cable socket 10 is mounted in an opening 42 of a panel 44 by means of the adaptor 12 which comprises the flange 30 and a nut 48 and washer 47 clamping against the front and back faces of the panel, the tapered 38 counterbore 36 and the screw threaded axial bore 34 receiving the socket 10, the latter being locked in the adaptor by a nut 40. The adaptor is of metal to provide an earth path or of an insulating material, for example PTFE or an elastomer so that press-fitting together of the socket, adaptor and panel could be used instead of screw fitting. For a completely flush fitting the panel 44 is recessed to receive the flange 30; this would enable another panel 54 associated with a plug 50 to butt against the panel 44.
