Abstract

1,204,193. Two-part couplings. BUNKER RAMO CORP. 4 Sept., 1967 [2 Sept., 1966], No. 40400/67. Heading H2E. Identical connector parts 10 each have a coupling unit which is adjustable to form either a plug or a socket-type unit to suit that of the co-operating connector part. Each coupling unit comprises a threaded ring 54 and a surrounding nut 56 which, by engagement with threads 110 on the ring 54 and subsequent rotation, can move the ring 54 forwardly of the mating face of its connector part to form a plugtype unit for engagement with the nut 56 of the co-operating connector part (Figs. 3-6, not shown). A key and keyway 100, 97 limit axial movement of the ring 54. Inner and outer coaxial contacts 36, 60 have end surfaces 38, 61 for abutting co-operating contacts, the inner contacts 36 being axially slit and being` slidably mounted in sockets 34 in contact pieces 324 whose rear ends 32 are screw-fitted into central conductors 14 of transmission lines 12. The outer contacts 60 are screw-fitted at 46 to outer conductors 16 of the lines 12 and at 76 to sleeves 90 which include the keyways 97. Rubber inserts 87 space the inner and outer contacts.
