Abstract

1,181,883. Two-part couplings. BUNKER RAMO CORP. 26 Sep t ., 1967 [26 Sept., 1966], No. 43817/67. Heading H2E. In a cable connector whose plug and socket contacts 38, 82 are retained in bores 28 in insulating inserts 20, 76 by spring collets 44, the insulating material of the inserts is sufficiently rigid to withstand deforming forces exerted by fingers 60 on the collets when they are spread by a tool (68, Fig. 3, not shown) to release the contacts. In each half of the connector the insert 20, 76 is secured to a rear grommet 34 and to an outer shell 18, 14 by a spring collar 22. Each collet 44 has a groove which snapengages an annular ridge 66 on the corresponding bore 28, and its fingers 60 have shoulders at their forward ends which engage shoulders 42, 84 on the contacts.
