Abstract
1314715 Two-part couplings BUNKERBAMO CORP 21 Sept 1970 [15 Oct 1969] 44914/70 Heading H2E An electrical connector comprises a plug 110, Fig. 3, having female contacts 114 and a socket 10, Fig. 1, having male contacts 14, the plug- and-socket being coupled together by bayonet pins 24 on the socket 10 and bayonet slots 124 on a coupling ring 125 on the plug 110. Fixed keys 128 on the plug 110 locate in keyways 28 in the socket 10 in which is mounted an 0-ring 22 to provide sealing with the end of the plug shell 112, and slotted springs 129 on the plug shell provide electrical continuity between the plug shell 112 and the socket shell 12. Adjustable polarizing means are provided on the plug- and-socket. The socket is provided with a number of keyways 30 all but one of which may be closed by keyway plugs 32 each of which is of dovetail shape and has a spring clip 33 which engages a groove 34 in the socket shell 12. A keyway plug 32 may be released by a screwdriver passed under it to push the spring clip 33 out of engagement with the groove 34. In a groove 138 in the plug shell 112 there is mounted a resilient band 137 carrying a key 130 and a lug 139. The lug 139 fits in one of a number of slots 141 in the plug shell so that the key 130 is aligned with the unplugged keyway 30. The band 137 may be rotated to align the key with the unplugged keyway of a different connector. Any number of keyways 30 may be left unplugged.
