Abstract

1463609 Magnesium alloy MAGNESIUM ELEKTRON Ltd 14 Jan 1976 [30 Dec 1974] 01363/76 Divided out of 1463608 Heading C7A A magnesium-based alloy with satisfactory aerated temperature mechanical properties suitable for aerospace application contains Mg Bal with Fe and other impurities. Optimum properties are achieved by a solution treatment of over 450‹C followed by quenching and ageing at 100-350‹C. Typical treatments are 520‹C for 8 hours, followed by 16 hours at 200‹C. Alternatively a two stage solution treatment may be used i.e. 8 hours at 480‹C, followed by 4 hours at 520‹C, quenching and ageing 8 hours at 250‹C.
