Abstract

1463496 Screws D CHART 23 April 1974 [25 April 1973] 19658/73 Heading F2H A screw (Figs. 1B, 6C) is provided with an annular castellated portion 2 and a central cylindrical core 3 which extends within and beyond the castellated portion 2 to prevent turning of the screw by a screwdriver applied diametrically across the castellations. The screw can only be turned by a specially-shaped mating tool. Any number of castellations may be used, and one or more may be wider and/or higher than the rest. As shown in Fig. 6C, the screw may have an annular shroud 6 encircling the castellated portion 2 and which may be fast with, or rotatable relative to, the portion 2. The screw may be made of metal or plastics and can be made from two welded or press-fitted parts as in Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown).
