Abstract

1,152,070. Fasteners. G.K.N. SCREWS & FASTENERS Ltd. 16 Feb., 1968 [16 Dec., 1966], No. 56406/66. Heading F2H. A fastener device comprises a bush 10 for insertion into an opening in a workpiece, and a tilting member 21 with a screw threaded aperture 21a mounted on said bush for tilting movement between a first position in which the bush and tilting member can be inserted into said opening and a second position in which the tilting member extends transversely across the opening to prevent withdrawal of the bush, the member being moved into said second position by inserting a screw 30 axially through the bush to threadedly engage the thread 21a of the member 20, the tilting member further including a generally flat surface extending normal to the threaded aperture which in the first position is inclined to the axis of the bush but with no part of the member extending outwardly of the bush. In the first position a corner 27 of the member engages in slots in the base of the bush and the flat surface bears against lugs 19b and 18a. The bush is substantially cylindrical with two diametrically opposed rectangular apertures and flat surfaces 15 within its bore to engage the edges of the member 21 to prevent its rotating. The screw 30 is formed with a frusto-conical end portion 31 to facilitate the tilting operation.
