Abstract

A fastener comprises first (12) and second (30) co-axially arranged studs separated by an orthogonal flange (18) formed integrally therewith, the first stud having a helical external thread (14) incorporating thread forming means (16), and the flange having a lower surface (22) adjacent the first stud, an upper surface (20) adjacent the second stud, and upstanding protuberances formed on said upper surface of the flange, with the protuberances including radially-extending ribs (24) each having a primary rotary driving surface (26) which extends upwardly perpendicularly from said upper surface of the flange for engagement and driving by abutment surfaces (52) of a mating tool (46), the second stud (30) being either long to present a double-ended fastener (10) or short to present a low profile tamperproof head. <IMAGE>
