Abstract

614,921. Sealing of tanks. SIMMONS, C. A. Oct. 26, 1945, No. 28370. Convention date, Jan. 5. [Class 69 (i)] [Also in Groups XXII. XXIII and XXV] A stud-type fastener for sealing holes in tanks employs a rubber &c. washer 10a located against the head and tightly fitting the shank. The hole in the plate is notched at 15 and the stud has a spring wire with a yoke portion 21 located in a hole in the shank 16 of the stud and has arms 23 extending along the shank. The hole in the tank has notches 15 to pass the arms. Rotation of the stud by the head draws the arms out of the notches and causes them to assume the position shown in Fig. 8. When the tank is of soft metal, the stud may be forced into place without notching the hole.
