[Class 44] In a fastener having a stud carried by one of the parts to be fastened together, a shank of the stud being adapted to be passed through an opening in the second of the two parts to be fastened together and turned about its axis into engagement with a yielding member, the stud has a flat head A and a shank having the end part C flattened and twisted through an angle of 45‹-55‹ and a ridge-like tooth C<2> along each edge of the flattened part. The constructions shown are adapted for connecting two plates D, E. The connection is made by inserting the shank C through an opening in the plate E and the longitudinal part of an opening J, Fig. 6 in a cam plate H, partial rotation of the stud then engages the edges C<1> of the shank with notches J<1> in the opening J. A spring G holds the stud in position. Before the plates D, E are connected the stud is carried by the plate D and owing to the cutting action of the teeth C<2> the shank has been forced through the opening in the plate D but cannot subsequently be withdrawn. In a similar manner the shank of the stud is initially forced through the opening of a cupped washer F accommodating the head of the stud. The cam plate H is yieldingly mounted on a plate N by means of hollow rivets M having clearance in the openings in the cam plate and encircled by springs L. Rivets O pass through the hollow rivets M,and attach the cam plate H and the plate N to the plate E. A modified cam plate, Fig. 14, is made of sheet metal having oppositely projecting lugs Q bent up and rolled inwards and formed with notches Q<1> At one side of each notch the lugs are rolled back further to form inclined parts Q<2>. In a further modification the head of the stud contains the spring G in a recess, the washer F is flat and comprises two lugs fitting in the opening in the plate D.
