Abstract
Tanning-agents are prepared by treating acid resin or acid tar from mineral oil refining with monochromates, e.g. of barium, sodium, or potassium, in amount equivalent to the free sulphuric acid present. Or the sulphuric acid present may be neutralized by hydroxides or carbonates of chromium, aluminium, or iron; and, if desired, additional quantities may then be added. Or the acid resin or acid tar is first treated with a monochromate, and then with an hydroxide or carbonate of chromium, aluminium, or iron. Specification 146,167 is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 19502/90, 8069/13, and 146,167.ALSO:Acid resin or acid tar from mineral oil refining is treated with monochromates, e.g. of barium, sodium, or potassium in amount equivalent to the free sulphuric acid present.
