Abstract
1447094 Radiators NV PHILIPS GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN 24 Sept 1973 [27 Sept 1972] 44686/73 Heading F4S In a vehicle radiator comprising a plurality of upright tube panels 1 connected together in air-tight manner at the front and rear boundary planes 3 and 4 respectively of the radiator to define a zig-zag configuration, each tube panel 1 makes an angle α of between 70 and 80 degrees with the front or rear plane of the radiator. Each panel comprises upright cooling tubes 5 between which air passages are formed by transverse heat transfer fins 6 connected to the tubes and spaced longitudinally thereof. The thickness of each panel is at most 25 mm. and the ratio L/d n <25, where L is the length and d n the hydraulic diameter (defined in the Specification) of an air passage. The hydraulic diameter of each of the air passages is at most 2 mm., and the front and rear planes 3 and 4 of the radiator are spaced apart by a distance of between 7 and 15 cms.
