Abstract

1488842 Heat exchangers PHILIPS GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN NV 28 Oct 1974 [31 Oct 1973] 46556/74 Heading F4S In a heat exchanger comprising one or more tube panels 1 of the kind described in Specifications 1,434,803, 1,418,809 and 1,403,005 and consisting of fluid-carrying tubes 4 between which fins (e.g. corrugated strips 7 or flat strips 7<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 2) are attached to form air passages between adjacent tubes, the or each panel is inclined at angle of not more than 45 degrees to the flow direction 9 of the air before it enters the passages, and a plurality of parallel baffle plates 10 are provided on the rear side of the panel, the baffles being inclined to the rear surface of the panel to direct the air to the required discharge direction. Two alternative panel arrangements are shown. In another arrangement described (Figs. 3 and 4) a plurality of the panels are arranged in a zig-zag formation.
