Abstract

1444825 Forming composite yarn D S O TEXTIL 3 Jan 1974 [9 Jan 1973] 00262/74 Headings DID D1F and D1W In the production of composite yarn, a single fibre yarn 4, as may be formed from roving or sliver processed in a draw box comprising roller pairs 1 and 2 and a (fibre) controlling element 3, is passed through the bore of a rotating hollow spindle 5 together with a monofilament yarn 7 supplied from a package mounted on the spindle. The fibre yarn is false-twisted by a twister 6 (stated to be in the form of a regulating twist limiter) mounted on and rotating with the spindle 5, and the monofilament running with the fibre yarn is twisted thereinto by untwisting thereof on the downstream side of the twister. The denier of the monofilament yarn is at least five times less than that of the fibre yarn but within the limits of 15-45 denier and may be used as a (water-) soluble carrier yarn which may be removed subsequently e.g. during further processing. The fibres may differ e.g. in colour.
