1440446 Liquid heaters W B BARTON 27 Nov 1973 [28 Nov 1972] 45999/72 Heading F4A In a liquid heating unit, a container 2 is provided with an electric heating element 4 and liquid is arranged to enter the upper region 8, the container 2 through an inlet conduit or extending to the lower region of the container the liquid inlet conduit 8 being provided at its upper region with a small aperture 22 for permitting the escape of vapour back through the inlet conduit. The size of the aperture is such that less than 10% of the cold liquid entering the inlet conduit flows through the aperture 22. The heated liquid is drawn off under pressure through a stop valve 16 connected to an outlet conduit 14 provided at the top of the container 2. A pump 18 supplies liquid from a storage tank 20 to the inlet conduit 8.
