Abstract

1,106,031. Electric heating. W. G. DUCKHAM. 15 March, 1965 [16 March, 1964], No. 10871/65. Heading H5H. A water heater for providing boiling water comprises a pressure vessel 1 having a thermostat 8 and heater 7 and an outlet 4 near the bottom. The inlet 2, 3 has a fixed or variable orifice to restrict the water flow to that at which the heater can maintain the temperature. Thermostat 8 is set above atmospheric boiling point, but in an alternative arrangement another thermostat and heater (10, 11, Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) on a separate manually switched circuit, is set to this temperature and thermostat 7 is set to a lower temperature, say 150‹ F. The inlet restrictor may be in the form of a helical coil (30, Fig. 7, not shown) which may be additionally mounted in a connection tube (28). An indicator lamp 9 may be connected across the thermostat 8. The inlet may incorporate a non-return valve. A pressure relief valve 6 or plug allows initial filling.
