Abstract
607,962. Hot-water systems. COURTENAY, L. J. July 27, 1945, No. 19312. Convention date, Aug. 17, 1944. [Class 64(i)] In a hot water generating and storage system comprising a heater 10, a heating element 26 controlled 'by a thermostat 31, a reservoir 5 with discharge pipe 8, and a float controlled feed tank 20, switching on and off the heater element when the water is below and above the predetermined operating temperature and pressure-gravity circulation of the water to and through the heater and reservoir is obtained by providing a gravity feed pipe 21 connecting tank 20 to the heater 10 through the pipe 18 containing the thermostat 31, an inlet pipe 9 from the heater 10 discharging above the normal liquid level in the feed tank 20 and an outlet pipe 17 being positioned at a height between the normal liquid level in the feed tank and the level of the upper end of the feed pipe 9, which is adjustable in height by means of a sleeve 11 operated by a rod 12. The heater 10 has a water tube 30 wound round a combustion chamber 29 containing ring baffles 32 having spokes 33, Fig. 2.
