Abstract

1438500 Cartons ASHTON CONTAINERS Ltd 13 Dec 1973 [29 Dec 1972] 60190/72 Heading B8P A blank of corrugated fibreboard, of paper. board, or a thermoplastics material, has a tubular body formed of panels 10, 11, 12, lower end flaps 14, 16, a lid 9 and a handle formed of panels 42, 43 passing through a slot 50 in the lid when closed. The panels 42, 43 are not secured together so that they tend to spring apart to grip the slot 50. Panels 17, 18 of the lid are folded at 90 degrees to each other and end panels 30 are enfolded by panels 31 folded about lines 62 (or 72). A tab 61 is locked in a slot 60 to secure the end panels in position. A finger hole 5 enables a carton to be withdrawn from a row of cartons. A portion 41 of the panel 10 is slit at 26, 27 and hinged at 25 so that with the lid open the portion 41 can be hinged down to facilitate access to the contents.
