Recoil apparatus.-Relates to run-out control devices of the kind in which the non-recoiling piston b<1> of the hydraulic brake B' has a runout control ram B<4> adapted to enter and displace liquid from a chamber b<4x> towards the end of the run-out, and wherein the displaced liquid passes back into the recoil cylinder through a passage b<5> provided with a regulating-valve C. According to the invention, the adjustment of the longitudinally-disposed valve C is effected by a worm gear C<2>, C<3>, the worm of which is carried by a transverse spindle c<3> adapted to be operated by a tool inserted through an elongated slot a' in the wall of the cradle A'. The brake cylinder shown forms part of a. hydro-pneumatic recoil apparatus.
