Abstract

Recoil apparatus.-Relates to apparatus in which the length of the recoil is regulated according to the elevation of the gun by means of a valve controlling the flow of liquid. According to the invention, the lift of the valve is limited by a stop-face which is adjusted by a wedge device operated by a fixed cam when the gun is elevated. The invention is shown applied to hydro-pneumatic apparatus in which the liquid passes through an orifice 4 controlled by a valve 6 the lift of which is limited by a stop-face 10 on a socket 9. The socket is adjusted by a wedge 12 attached to the front of a rod 13, to the rear of which is fixed a block 16 having inclined grooves engaged by corresponding ribs 18 on a vertically sliding block 19 which is raised, when the gun is elevated, by a fixed cam 21 on the gun mounting. In a modification, Fig. 3, the stop 27 for the valve 6 is raised by a wedge 29 at the front of a rod 30 which is wholly outside the body of the regulator and is directly operated by a cam 21.
