Abstract

130,423. Dawson, Sir A. T., and Buckham, Sir G. T. Jan. 19,1917. Recoil apparatus.-Relates to hydro-pneumatic apparatus comprising a recoil and run-out cylinder B and an air cylinder C, for example as described in Specifications 126,376 and 130,422. According to the invention, a ram B<3> is provided on the piston B<1> and a recess B<4> in the. end of the cylinder B in order to check the end of the runout movement, liquid being supplied from a tank F to the cylinder B by a duct f, and the liquid trapped in the recess B<4> being forced back to the tank through another duct f<1> adjusted by a screw f<2>. The tank F is closed by a spring-loaded ball f<3> to prevent excessive pressure within the tank.
