Abstract

1428257 Yarn interlacing nozzle RHONEPOULENC-TEXTILE 11 May 1973 [26 May 1972] 22699/73 Heading D1F A method of producing an interlaced yarn comprises feeding at least one multifilament yarn through an interlacing zone, while tensioned between two yarn guides, and continuously subjecting the yarn to the action of at least one jet of fluid having a flow disturbed by at least one freely movable mechanical means, as it passes through the interlacing zone. In a preferred embodiment, the yarn is passed through a chamber 1 formed in a body 2 having coaxial inlet and outlet openings 5. Fluid, preferably compressed air, is introduced into the chamber I by at least one jet 4 fed from duct 3. The jet 4 is preferably tangential to the chamber 1, several jets may be provided, which may or may not be coplanar. The means for disturbing the flow is preferably in the form of balls 6, or cylindrical or barrel-shaped rollers. In a further embodiment, the duct 3 opens into a plenum chamber 8 which supplies fluid to angularly directed jets 4 opening into a chamber 1 containing one or more balls 6. The balls 6 are located in an annular chamber 1 bounded by walls 2 and 9. The wall 9 surrounds a yarn passage and has one or more holes 10, which may be radially directed and coplanar with duct 3 and jets 4, for feeding fluid to the yarn passage to interlace the individual elements of the yarn.
