Abstract
1422615 Interlaced yarn MONSANTO CO 5 March 1973 [6 March 1972] 10598/73 Heading D1F A device for entangling multifilament yarn comprises a yarn jet venturi 10 wherein the yarn is treated with a fluid as the yarn moves longitudinally therethrough, a port in said venturi connected with a source of pressurised fluid, and an eccentrically adjustably mounted guide adjacent the yarn entrance to the venturi to deflect the yarn and thereby position the yarn to control the uniformity of the fluid treatment from one such device to another such device. In one embodiment the eccentrically adjustably mounted guide comprises a disc 20 rotatably mounted in a collar 22 secured to the venturi housing, the disc 20 having an eccentrically located bore 24 through which the yarn passes. In this embodiment, the venturi 10 includes one fluid inlet port 15 diametrically opposite two axially spaced fluid inlet ports 16, 17. The yarn entry can thus be adjusted relative to the ports 15, 16 and 17. In a further embodiment, the disc 20 is itself eccentrically mounted relative to the venturi axis. In an alternative embodmient (Fig. 4), a pig tail guide 30 is laterally adjustable in post 31 of a ring 29 which is located on disc 26 by lugs 27 engaging in slots in the ring 29. The disc 26 is bolted to the venturi 10. The fluid used is preferably steam at 160- 235C, the yarn being separately drawn and gear crimped prior to passage through the venturi. The yarn is preferably used in pile fabric manufacture.
