Locking nuts. - In securing a detachable wheel between a fixed flange b on the hub and a loose flange c, the nut a<2> on a bolt a<1> is locked by a washer d which is splined on the bolt and has ribs or recesses coacting with corresponding formations on the base of the nut. The washer is driven towards the nut by the spring shown, and works in a recess f in the work of greater depth than the thickness of the washer.
